Diversity classes

Dec. 14, 2020 鈥 In response to student interest, 成人直播 State is focusing on developing new courses focused on diversity. Currently, 成人直播 State offers more than 330 courses on diversity content. Additionally, two-thirds of the first-year seminars offered are flagged with diversity and about 35-40% of students complete a diversity course while pursuing their degree.

Dec. 17, 2020 鈥 成人直播 State University鈥檚 Community Engagement Institute鈥檚 coalition is working to better the lives of children by encouraging workplaces to establish family-friendly practices. WSU-CEI works closely with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment to establish multisector partnerships and resources for the execution of the Child Maltreatment Prevention Plan across Kansas. WSU-CEI also organizes a statewide coalition for this effort called Kansas Power of the Positive.

Joe Kleinsasser

December 15, 2020 - Joe Kleinsasser, co-director of news and media relations, retires from 成人直播 State this week and the university will miss his institutional knowledge, his experience and trust with the media, his patience and his kindness. He started at 成人直播 State just in time for a news conference called to announce the end of the football program. He remembers the visit of Russian president Boris Yeltsin to campus in 1992 as one of his most interesting assignments. He lists his work with Dean Headley, emeritus professor of marketing at 成人直播 State University, on the Airline Quality Rating as a highlight.

Dawna Raehpour

December 11, 2020 - Dawna Raehpour is the recipient of the Stanley Z. Koplik Memorial Scholarship for 2020-21. She will graduate in May with major in public health science and a minor in sociology. The $1,200 scholarship is in honor of Koplik, who served as executive director of the Kansas Board of Regents from 1982-93.

Dec. 10, 2020 -- The Kansas Board of Regents has approved the creation of the newest department at 成人直播 State University鈥檚 College of Engineering 鈥 the School of Computing. Dean Dennis Livesay called the establishment of the new school a significant marker of the university鈥檚 commitment to producing digital-skilled workforce needed by industry.

Dec. 7, 2020 鈥 Amy Schafer, director of advertising at 成人直播 State, will retire this month. She takes with her 32 years of institutional knowledge, her signature Wisconsin twang, and her dedication to Shocker Nation.

Shocker Commitment

Dec. 1, 2020 鈥 成人直播 State University has created a scholarship and support network to help those nearest to its campus. The Shocker Neighborhood Commitment provides funding to make college more affordable and attainable for recent high school graduates living in the Shocker Neighborhood.

November 23, 2020 - Jay Price, a history professor at 成人直播 State, is honoring 成人直播 State鈥檚 birthday by creating a graphic novel of 成人直播 State's history.

November 23, 2020 - In February, Evergy invested in three initiatives that added valuable assets to the engineering program. One of those initiatives was the installation of solar panels on the roof of the John Bardo Center.

Zane Storlie

Nov. 16, 2020 鈥 Zane Storlie has not only dedicated his time at 成人直播 State to learning everything he can about computer science, but he鈥檚 also been an advocate for computer science education for elementary and middle school students in the area. Zane created a three-unit curriculum to teach Scratch coding to more than 750 students in 成人直播 Public Schools, and the Derby school district asked him to present a teacher training course to its librarians.

Abdelhakim Al Turk

Nov. 16, 2020 鈥 Abdelhakim Al Turk came to 成人直播 State University to study engineering from Lebanon. Throughout his time in 成人直播, he has appreciated the mentorship and hands-on experience he鈥檚 gotten from the College of Engineering and through his work at the Rapid Prototyping and 3D Printing Lab.

LaShaya Lawrie Fall 2020 grad

Nov. 16, 2020 鈥 LaShaya Lawrie chose 成人直播 State because it鈥檚 close to home. While pursuing her Bachelor of Science in biomedical engineering, LaShaya became involved on campus. LaShaya is one of more than 1,200 students eligible for fall 2020 graduation.

Nov. 12, 2020 鈥 The National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR) has received another $13.7 million contract from the United States Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) to extend the Modeling for Affordable, Sustainable Composites (MASC) research program.

Adelante Scholarship

Nov. 10, 2020 鈥 Incoming freshmen and transfer students have an opportunity to receive up to $20,000 as part of 成人直播 State University鈥檚 new Shocker Adelante Scholarship.

Nov. 5, 2020 -- BAASE started in 2018, and the partnership between 成人直播 Public Schools and 成人直播 State began in fall 2019 with the goal of creating a stronger system of support for African American and Hispanic students who want to pursue post-secondary education.
