Sept. 16, 2021鈥 The 成人直播 State University College of Applied Studies announced today the launch of Men of Color: Educators of Tomorrow, a new mentor education program for young men of color interested in pursuing careers in teaching and other education-related paths.

Sept. 10, 2021 鈥 成人直播 State University Campus Recreation and the University Police Department teamed up this summer to teach more than 200 children from the 成人直播 community how to swim. The program was made possible by the Michael Phelps Foundation Grant received by Campus Recreation.

Aug. 31, 2021 鈥 Wu Crew Reads is a pilot program between 成人直播 State University and Gordon Parks Elementary School. Members of the 成人直播 State community spend 20 minutes every week reading to and with third-graders via a virtual platform.

Aug. 19, 2021 -- Starting fall 2022, any qualified high school senior who is a resident of Sedgwick County will be eligible to receive a scholarship covering unmet tuition and fee costs to attend 成人直播 State University.

Aug. 13. 2021 鈥 Amanda Phanivong, a 成人直播 State University junior studying integrated marketing communication, recently began a fellowship with the Kansas-based Storytime Village Inc. While working there with their marketing and special events cohort, Phanivong has fully embraced her time with the Storytime team.

Aug. 13, 2021 鈥 For the eighth consecutive year, 成人直播 State University will receive a $125,000 grant from the U.S. Small Business Administration for specialized training, mentoring, and technical assistance for research- and development-focused small businesses under the Federal and State Technology (FAST) Partnership Program.

June 29, 2021 -- An opening reception for "From Lima to 成人直播: Intercultural Dialogues in Clothing & Paint" will take place from 6鈥9 p.m. July 2, at ShiftSpace, WSU鈥檚 student-run gallery, as part of 成人直播鈥檚 First Friday gallery crawl.

June 29, 2021 - Alicia Sanchez is assistant dean of students and director of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion at 成人直播 State University. In May, she earned a senate-confirmed appointment to the Kansas Human Rights Commission as an At-Large member.

June 21, 2021 -- 成人直播 State is holding a community event, Shockers Under the Stars, beginning at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 22, outside the Ulrich Museum of Art on the main campus.

Juneteenth (a combination of the words 鈥淛une鈥 and 鈥渘ineteenth鈥) is the day that federal troops came to Galveston, Texas on June 19, 1865 and made sure that enslaved people in the area were set free. This was two-and-one-half years after Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation.

Media and the community are invited to attend the JunteenthICT Parade, sponsored by 成人直播 State University鈥檚 Office of Diversity and Inclusion.

The parade celebrates the 156th anniversary of Juneteenth during the JuneteenthICT Parade at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 19. The parade route will begin at 17th Street and Hillside, going west, and eventually ending at McAdam鈥檚 Park, where the all-day Juneteenth ICT celebration will take place.
